In setting up Armadillo Ink, I combined the basic approach and style of what I liked most in the woodcut illustrations I remember from classic stories growing up, with the "over the top" visuals that were everywhere in the 70s.
Everything from B-Horror/Sci-Fi movies, to the unorthodox illustrations of Monty Python's Terry Gilliam played a big part in forming the kinds of things that I wanted to create. I, like any other illustrator, want my work to bring a writer's words to life, but to also have the depth to stand alone. Having served for years as an Art Director, I understand what my clients are looking for; great artwork, no ego, an understanding of today's technology, and last, but not least... meeting the deadline."
